Tiny Weddings Fair Exhibitors – Humanist Celebrants

Often, keeping your guest list short can mean that you are free to be more of your true selves during the ceremony.  When all your guests know you well, you can often feel more comfortable with showing your personalities when making your promises to each other.  A celebrant can help you to create a ceremony that reflects you as a couple, and incorporates the traditions and rituals that suit you.  There will be a group of humanist celebrants exhibiting together at the Tiny Weddings Fair on the 10th March.  They are Jon Trevor, Eliza Johnson, Victoria Denning and Wendy Weavin.  We spoke to Jon in the interview below.  Come along to meet them all and chat with them about how they can help you to have the wedding you want.

Tiny Weddings Fair Humanist Celebrants

Please introduce yourselves and what you do.

We are four very experienced Humanist Wedding celebrants based in the West Midlands.  We are all trained, accredited and insured by Humanists UK, to create bespoke, non-religious weddings and vow renewals.

How do you think the couples are different when working with a large wedding versus a tiny wedding?

They are much more focused on the ceremony rather than fretting about some huge reception to follow.  For them it is all about the vows, what they are going to say in front of their invited friends and family, where and how.

What are the main differences in the way you do business when dealing with a couple planning a smaller wedding?

None!  Every couple gets full attention, a bespoke ceremony written especially for them, encompassing all their wishes and hopes for their relationship, with vows that they can write themselves, if they so wish, and with an unlimited choice of symbolic acts, such as hand-fasting, sand-blending, tree planting, etc.

What do you love about small weddings and/or elopements?

The intimacy, and the palpable love and joy expressed by the couple.

If you could work on a tiny wedding anywhere in the world, any theme, any couple; where or what or whom would it be?

Beach ceremony in the Caribbean, towards the end of the day with sunset approaching.

Give an example of a tiny wedding you have worked on and what you did for the couple?

An older couple each on their second wedding.  The venue was a local bistro-café run by a friend of theirs.  They made their way over the bridge across the canal separating their home from the café, and entered as two other of their friends played sweet music on cello and violin.  They wrote their own vows, and I told the beautiful story of how they met.

What makes you unique in the service you can offer a couple planning a smaller wedding?

All Humanist UK wedding celebrants are trained to create tailor-made wedding ceremonies that perfectly match the couple and their needs, whether they are adventure seekers wanting to get married on a bungie jump, or a quiet couple wanting an intimate ceremony for just them and one or two close friends or family members as witnesses.
